Lion's Heat - Lora Leigh

This book is awesome-sauce. That's all I have to say.

Okay, not really - like a lot of fans of the Breed books, I've been waiting for Jonas's book, and Lion's Heat lived up to all my expectations.

I won't say too much else as I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but I really think all you Jonas fans will love it.

If you haven't read this series, I wouldn't suggest starting with this one. The first mass market release was Megan's Mark and I think you can easily jump in at that point (that's how I began). However there are prior books in the series that originally came out in ebook format. You can see the complete chronology on Lora's site.

Yes, but I want to buy it as an ebook and no-one's selling at the moment. Sigh.

I guess I'll have to wait until the publishers get some sense and/or the poor retailers can get caught up.

Still, I'm several books behind with reading the series, so I guess that gives me some time.

OMG, wasn't Jonas amazing?! I've been reading the Breeds for years, since before Megan's Mark and I've been itching for Jonas' book as soon as we met him. I picked it up last week (my Walmart had it and I just couldn't wait 'til release day) and it was absolutely worth the wait.

I especially love how he was with Amber. Totally melted me!

The entire series is available in "real book form" at Amazon. The first book in the series is Tempting the Beast (Callan & Merinus).

I cannot wait until tommorrow! (MY Tuesday, April 6th). I checked the shelves on Sunday afternoon at the local Borders but they did not make a mistake and put it out early. I have been waiting forever for Jonas' comeuppance, ...uh, I mean his book (smile). I know it will be awesome. I have read Lora's entire series including the early e-books. I also have a wait list that includes CL Wilson's "Crown of Cyrstal Flame", Christine Feehan's "Dark Peril" and somebody named Singh's "Bonds of Justice"...hmm..

Kerry: I feel your pain... I got the email from Amazon yesterday that the publisher isn't going with Kindle version. So I ran out to Walmart today and picked up a copy. I started it tonight! Can't wait to read...

I heard that some retailers had put Lion's Heat out early, but not where I live. So, I have to wait till tomorrow. I have read all the Breed books. All the ones published by Ellora's Cave are available from Amazon and they are worth the read. I'm worried, though-after Jonas who is left? I've always hoped Cassie would get a book too!

I am so jealous you have read it already! I have been waiting for Jonas' story for so long (just as we are all waiting for Hawke's story ^_^).

Megan's mark is a good place to begin, that is where I did. I've gone back to read the beginning with Callan/Merinus and the others (where I can find them, I finally just got my hands on Elizabeth's wolf).

Lisa, I've been keeping my fingers crossed for Cassie's book, too. Have we learned who was in her hospital that night? (Maybe I missed it...)

I just finished this book Saturday night. Love it!

I don't think we'll see the end of the series yet. There are many new characters introduced in Lion's Heat and, of course, there's Cassie and Dr. Ely who are both intriguing...

Can't wait to get my hands on this one. And, we still have Cassie. And Ely (hopefully with Jackal). And of course Dane. And Rule, Law, and Mordecai. And Styx...that should keep Lora Leigh busy for a while.

I just downloaded an ebook form of Lion's Heat from a website called CyberRead I hope this helps anyone.

I still haven't read the book before Lion's Heat, but I think it's near the top of my TBR list so I should get cracking. I've been hanging out for Jonas' book...and who his heroine will be...

OOPS! I hit submit too early. Christina - Elizabeth's Wolf is my favourite in the series.

I still need to read it but I have it.

Walmart put it out early I heard so I braved the crowded store just before Easter day and VICTORY! I had to stand in line for fifteen minutes for one item. My sister did the same thing we had a good laugh over getting Jonas's book into our clutches.

There's something about finding a book a few days before the release date that makes the purchase all the better.

You lucky ducks (those who have it). I've been waiting for Jonas' story for ages and I'm not going to get mine 'till MAY!!!

I'm waiting for the release of the eBook - doesn't sound like it will be happening anytime soon so I have also requested it from my library.

I'm half way through it and I hate the fact that I have to go to work and put the book down.

Amazon says mine's shipped, so I'm eagerly awaiting Jonas' book and Jared by Sarah McCarty. Love those Shadow Wranglers, too!

I started with Megan's Mark (MM) and I didn't feel deprived. I, too, have been eagerly awaiting Jonas' book...I'm currently on the waiting list at the library. I found this series by reading a novella in an anthology. I've read several of the short stories and then finally got MM from the library after several recommendations of the series here.

I would LOVE to go back and read the others (especially Callan and Merinus). Thanks for the info...can you also get the previous books (as in before Megan's Mark as ebooks?

Don't forget about Dane!

My kindle is at home... waiting for me... I know it downloaded it at 3am but I couldn't bear to look, the temptation to call in sick would have been too great!

I love this series. It's so addictive. I just got my copy. Can't wait for work to end so I can rush home and start reading!

Apparently the publisher has pulled all kindle formatted books due to some dispute with amazon. *sad* No Lion's Heat for me.. and no Demonkeepers (Jess Anderson) either.

*cry*

Hope it is resolved before bonds of justice comes out!!

You can get it in ePub format from Sony.

I've got all from Megan's Mark on, and am picking up the others as I can afford them. Got message from Amazon that Lion's Heat was shipped, so I SHOULD have it either tomorrow or Fiday - yay - reading weekend!

Drove 20 miles out of my way and purchased Lion's Heat on the 6th. Stayed up til 11 p.m. reading it. It was awesome!

Now I can't wait for Styx's Storm in October! According to LL there are still many more breed stories to come, around 25. Such as, stories for Lawe, Rule, and Cassie! Woo woo woo!

Read the book. It was ok. I'd give it 3 stars. I have read the entire series. Major problem - I thought Jonas would end up with Ely, but got over that quickly. I had to know what would happen with Jonas so I read it.

I am NOT a Jonas fan. I absolutely can't stand him but I have to finish a series once I start it. This book tried to turn Jonas into a loving character when he's been an absolutely horrible excuse for a human/breed being. However, I choked down my dislike to really read this book. I have read every Breed book and this one is probably the second most tolerable only because Jonas didn’t actually force the mating heat on Rachel. I don't like the feel of injustice and what's supposed to be a love story really isn't with most of the breed series. In this story-What I really don't like is the way Rachel's so called best friend knew she was setting her up to be Jonas' mate after knowing all she new about the mating heat process and the hell she went through (You all should read the first book and I think your opinion's might change). Not to mention the danger she would be putting her friend and her child in. I really can't stand the breed books as a whole because of the inequality to the women. One minute you have your life and the next you’re in a basic sexual bondage that is wrapped up in a "mating heat"/"love." It's not love if there really isn't a choice and you’re stuck in situation you have no hope of getting out of. In this story, Jonas adopted her child without her permission and none of her so called friends actually had her back. They were suddenly in Jonas corner despite the fact that he has continually manipulated everyone's life. He even threatens the breed doctor's granddaughter despite her having nothing to do with breed life. It's the type of person Jonas is, but suddenly he's the good guy in this book, he suddenly love's his sister... very unrealistic in my opinion.

The book stayed in tune with Jonas’ character but it would have been nice if there was more of a balance and someone on Rachel's side. Because really there wasn't anyone who would have actually helped her against Jonas if she truly wanted to leave or at least give her options to deal with the whole "mating heat." I understand the plot, but Rachel has lived and worked around Jonas so there should have been some type of balance. Also, she's a smart person so I don't believe she would have left except she rightly felt she couldn't trust the people around her. However, as with all Lori Leigh Breed books she suddenly forgets her anger toward those who betray her (Merinus) and she never actually ask for help. She says on page 34 she'd never trust a breed again but that's all she does from that point on never really confronting Merinus ( page 70 when she finally sees after the kidnapping) for betraying her. Just asked “you knew didn't you..."

I did like that, unlike the other breed books, Rachel's DNA could not be used against her like the other books in this series. Total departure from the rest of the series.

Another problem- Ely. She couldn't stand Jonas until he help "save" her but before that she was very vocal in her disapproval of Jonas' habit of playing mating god. But she suddenly is super critical of Rachel submitting to Jonas. I actually thought Ely and Jonas would end up together because that’s the amount of tension between them in previous books.

I loved it! I also got it early but not from a bookstore. I looked in a supermarket, it was on the shelf and I grabbed it.

I've found that most supermarkets will put books out early since they are not the ones to load the rack, the magazine delivery people do that.

For those looking for a Kindle version, look at some of the other ebook sites (ex: ebooks.com) and purchase another format that you can have converted to Kindle. It may cost you a little more (the most I've spent for a convert on one item was .30) and get it that way instead of having to wait.

As for Lora's early ebooks for the breeds you can purchase ebooks from www.ellorascave.com.

I thought it was almost as bad as the second half of Acheron. I was waiting and waiting for Jonas' story to come out. I was so excited. I thought it would as explosive as Merinus & Callen's story. No. It fell flat. It made no sense in many places and just plain ticked me off. It was like she just said "well, gotta write something". I got it today; I'm taking it back tomorrow.

I think that it seems like she more excited about writing when she was doing her early stuff like Tempting the Beast and Men of August. The sex was a little much, but the storylines were AWESOME.
I wonder how much joy the editors and publishing companies take out of the job b/c of deadlines and pressure.
